The Móncora Biopark celebrated its 15th anniversary, and what better way to do so than with a festival of art and knowledge! On November 5th, in an event full of color, creativity, and excitement, nearly 300 children and young people from the Aquileo Parra Technical Institute, along with their teachers and administrators, paid a unique tribute to this very special place that since 2009 has worked tirelessly for the conservation of the Tropical Dry Forest and for raising environmental awareness in Barichara.
The celebration was a true feast: the culmination of competitions in painting, song, theater, storytelling, bio-games, photography, video, comics, and a host of other artistic and educational expressions. All of it was inspired by the Biopark, that haven of biodiversity that has grown and thrived thanks to the love and dedication of so many people. It was an event where the talent of the participants shone, but it was also a moment to pay tribute to those who have made this story possible.
One of the most moving moments was the tribute to the Biopark's guardians, Camila Encinales and Vicky Camacho, who for the past fifteen years have dedicated themselves wholeheartedly to restoring and caring for the 5 hectares of this natural sanctuary. Thanks to their tireless work, the Biopark is now home to more than 7,000 native trees and a rich array of birdlife, making it a true oasis of life and learning. It's a place where visitors not only learn about nature but also connect with it in a profound and transformative way.
The Barichara Regenerative Foundation, aware of the immense value of this place, has been supporting the maintenance of the Biopark since 2023, and this celebration, joining its mission of environmental regeneration and care. This event was not only a celebration of the achievements made, but also a reaffirmation of the commitment to continue working together for a greener future for Barichara and its inhabitants.
In the end, what became clear is that Bioparque Móncora is much more than a natural space: it's a place for meeting, learning, and hope. And we're ready to celebrate many more years of its existence!
