Territorial Mycelium: a network to strengthen regeneration

On June 13th, the launch meeting of Micelio Territorial took place, a process promoted by the Barichara Regenerativa Foundation that seeks to coordinate the efforts of the initiatives that are part of the regenerative ecosystem of Barichara.

The event brought together organizations and initiatives with a long history, deep roots, community legitimacy, and diverse ways of contributing to the region. It was a space to share dreams, recognize existing capabilities, and discover new connections among those working for the environmental, educational, cultural, economic, and social regeneration of the municipality.

More than a sum of independent initiatives, Territorial Micelium proposes to strengthen an ecosystem where each process can contribute from its experience, finding common ground and new possibilities to move forward collaboratively.

From individual efforts to a shared vision

The purpose of Micelio Territorial is to contribute to the financial sustainability of the regenerative ecosystem of Barichara by strengthening capacities, articulating initiatives and building joint proposals that integrate different actors in the territory.

Their approach stems from the recognition that territorial challenges require collective responses. Therefore, they seek to promote processes that connect knowledge, resources, and capabilities, prioritizing ecosystemic, complementary, and integrative proposals over isolated efforts.

To support this process, the Barichara Regenerative Foundation proposes four lines of action aimed at strengthening initiatives and expanding their growth potential:

Capacity building: Support to strengthen skills related to proposal formulation, the consolidation of local and territorial narratives, and the strategic management of resources.

Articulation and joint proposals: creation of meeting spaces, co-design tools and mapping of synergies that allow the identification of collaboration opportunities between initiatives.

Institutional services of the Barichara Regenerative Foundation: Strengthening, fiscal sponsorship and co-management as mechanisms to support processes that require institutional support to consolidate.

Access to networks and opportunities: connection between local initiatives and potential allies, donors and investors interested in supporting territorial development processes.

Water as a thread that connects the territory

One of the key points of convergence during the day was the recognition of water as the central element connecting multiple processes. Initiatives related to micro-watershed restoration, community governance of water resources, waste management, and ecosystem recovery identified opportunities to develop a shared understanding of the water cycle in Barichara.

Connections also emerged between regenerative production processes, local transformation and marketing, as well as between cultural, educational and community initiatives that work on transforming the relationship between people and the territory.

A fabric where each initiative contributes its own roots.

The meeting made it possible to highlight that Barichara has a diversity of processes that, from different paths, share a common vision: to care for and regenerate the territory.

The Territorial Mycelium was born out of a commitment to strengthening this existing network, recognizing that each initiative possesses knowledge, skills, and lessons learned that can enrich others. As in living ecosystems, strength lies in connection, where each root contributes to the forest of which it is a part.

This first meeting opens a collective path to continue building trust, alliances and actions that allow the seeds of regeneration that already exist in Barichara to grow together.
