On November 29, 2021, three years ago, the first spark was ignited that gave rise to what we now call the Barichara Regenerative Foundation.
That night, at the Barichara House of Culture, 125 people gathered for the "Weaving Seed Funds" event. In this exercise of community philanthropy, we sought to connect, inspire, and support 15 projects underway in the area, as well as the children's initiative to lead the cleanup of the Barichara Creek—three additional projects that required support to become established.
It was there that our slogan, "In Barichara, everyone contributes," gained traction, as this first gathering demonstrated the power of connection. Some people participated by buying tickets, others with donations, many with their time and effort, and all with their presence. This event inspired several people to join the initiative to create a local foundation in Barichara. The seed was planted, and on February 22, 2022, we held our second philanthropic event, this time virtually.
Since then, we have moved forward with firm, albeit quiet, steps. We only officially registered our foundation in March 2024, but we have always worked with our hearts set on a single purpose: the regeneration of the territory.
Today marks three years of shared stories, efforts, and dreams. Because we know that every action counts, and that together we can continue building a better future for Barichara.
